Okay, so you've heard all about training schemes, ID cards etc. PASMA this, IPAF that blah blah blah... What's the difference you may ask yourself, or indeed what's the point of it all. "I've been doing this job for years" - "Why do I need a PASMA card - IPAF card?" The answer is because PASMA and IPAF are accredited

By choosing accredited training, employers can be reassured that they are not wasting their money.
For example: accredited CIEH qualifications have to be reviewed by the Sector Skills Councils and PASMA & IPAF courses are audited and approved by the Health and Safety Executive. Trainers themselves have to be qualified and experienced.
Not all employers understand this and sometimes find it difficult to relate it to value. However, in today’s cut-throat world where every penny counts, it’s just as important not to waste money as it is to cut costs. In any situation, investing in high quality training pays for itself in a number of ways, whereas paying for low quality training is just throwing money away.
There is strong evidence that providing accredited qualifications can dramatically reduce costs:
Incidents, claims and court cases are all reduced

LOOK AT THIS EXAMPLE…

‘TK Maxx’ the clothing retailer gained a 55% drop in accidents after introducing the CIEH Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety, resulting in a 20% decrease in insurance premiums!

With the legal environment getting tougher, companies know that they cannot be complacent about safety in the workplace.
