As a manager looking at health and safety training courses, it is likely that you’re searching on behalf of your staff or colleagues. This is, of course, vital as it ensures that your team is fully equipped and prepared to conduct their work in a safe and practical manner.

However, you may not have thought about how you and your company can benefit from training courses if you, as a manager, undertake them yourself.

Why Managers Should Undertake Health and Safety Training

It’s not only important to ensure that your staff has a good knowledge of the best practices to ensure that they work safely; it may be your responsibility to make sure that your team is following these best practices. Therefore, it’s essential that you have a good knowledge of what is expected of your staff.

This allows managers to continue to educate their staff and ensure that work is completed safely.

Courses Designed for Managers and Supervisors

At Boss Training, we run a number of courses which are specifically designed for managers. This allows us to address the specific issues and situations which managers may face. These include:

This course is designed for people who manage those working at height. This course will give you a good understanding of the hazards and risks that come with working at height and operating the equipment needed. You will also benefit from training that addresses the skills needed to manage and monitor safe procedures and practices, as well as gaining a greater understanding of the current regulations and legislation.

IPAF MEWPs for Managers training course

This course is designed for those who have a duty to manage asbestos, such as managers, owners, and supervisors. The UKATA Duty to Manage Training Course educates you on the elements of being a duty holder. For instance, it covers topics on how best to develop, deploy and monitor a successful management plan, as well as how to implement safe and clear working standards, procedures, and emergency protocol.

This course for site managers is a 5-day course. It covers a range of topics from site set up, to SDM, to risk assessment and different working situations such as evacuations, demolition, working at height and confined spaces.

Similarly to the SMSTS course, this course looks at health and safety in the construction industry but is designed for site supervisors. The SSSTS covers topics such as the Health & Safety at Work Act, working at height regulations, PPE, COSHH and fire prevention.

These courses have been designed and tailored specifically for managers and supervisors to allow you to flourish in your role, and allow your staff to do the same. For other members of staff who require certain training to fulfill their role, it would be useful to look at our other courses.
