The NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Construction Site Supervision is a higher-level vocational qualification that confirms a supervisor’s ability to plan, coordinate, and control construction activities on live sites. It is designed for experienced supervisors who are responsible for maintaining standards, managing resources, and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.
This qualification goes beyond day-to-day task supervision by focusing on leadership, decision-making, and compliance. Learners demonstrate their competence through real workplace evidence, showing how they manage multiple trades, control quality, implement health and safety systems, and communicate effectively with operatives, contractors, and management.
How Assessment Works with Boss Training
The NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision is assessed through evidence of real supervisory responsibility on live construction sites. A dedicated assessor will support you in gathering evidence that reflects how you plan, coordinate, and control site activities.
Assessment methods include workplace documentation, professional discussion, and observation where appropriate. Evidence is used to demonstrate competence in leadership, health and safety management, quality control, and communication. There are no exams, and the assessment is fully aligned to your current job role.
Progression Options
For progression into senior site and project leadership roles, eligible learners often move on to the NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management (a degree-level qualification that supports the CSCS Black Manager Card)

A basic level of IT (phone/tablet/email) is helpful for building your portfolio and sharing evidence securely.
Learners must be working in a construction supervisory role on a live site (or multiple live sites) and have genuine responsibility for planning, coordinating, and monitoring site activities.
This typically includes coordinating trades/subcontractors, managing resources, maintaining quality standards, and implementing health and safety arrangements.
