The CITB SMSTS refresher course is in place to renew a candidates SMSTS qualification once they are near the 5-year expiry. This course is designed to remind candidates of their day-to-day responsibilities regarding the health and well-being of their employees. Along with this, all changes to existing legislation will be covered to ensure that delegates are up to date with the very latest health and safety-related issues.
This 2-day refresher, rebuilds and reassesses the information given in the initial 5-day course. Reminding delegates of their responsibilities and the legislation that drives this.
The course is assessed through a combination of group work and individual assessment in the form of a test at the end of the course.

- Refresher on up-to-date construction health, safety and welfare
- Risk assessment and method statements
- RIDDOR 2013
- CDM Regulations 2015 – including roles and responsibilities of key duty holders under ‘Reporting of Injuries’
- Construction Waste and Site Waste Management Plans
- Work at Height Regulations 2005 – refresher
- Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 – refresher
- Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 – refresher

This course is aimed at Managers in the construction industry or people who are working to become Managers.
All delegates will need an in-date CITB SMSTS certificate in order to attend this course.
The course is entirely theory based so you do not need to bring any PPE.
