Our CPCS A31 ride on roller course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a ride-on roller safely and efficiently on construction sites.
Led by experienced instructors, the training covers essential operating procedures, pre-use inspections, compaction techniques, machine stability and safety precautions.
Delegates will learn how to prepare, operate and secure a ride-on roller while understanding the hazards associated with working on uneven ground, near excavations and alongside other construction machinery.
The course prepares delegates for the CPCS A31 theory and practical technical tests, providing a recognised route towards obtaining a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.
- Pre-start, running checks, and shutdown procedure
- Operating the machine safely and efficiently
- Fitting and operating ancillary equipment
- Carrying out routine servicing procedures
- Preparing the machine for travelling on public highways
- Understanding the capabilities, limitations, and purposes of the relevant machinery
- Applying the necessary safety precautions
- Understanding how diesel engines and other parts of the machinery work
To obtain a CPCS A31 Red Trained Operator Card, delegates must have passed the relevant CITB or NOCN Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test within the previous two years.
Delegates must also successfully complete the CPCS A31 theory and practical technical tests at an accredited CPCS Test Centre.
No previous experience operating a ride-on roller is required for novice training. However, delegates should have sufficient English language skills to understand safety instructions and complete the required assessments.
Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will also be required.
